Small boats are fun to build, easy to handle by one person and can provide many days of enjoyment without lugging a trailer around. I use these homemade boats for camping, fishing, and just general relaxation. They all are easy to paddle and range in weight from 25 pounds to 54 pounds. The Yakoo (yellow and white boat) handles very much like a recreational kayak. She a seaworthy boat and can carry a lot of gear for weekend trip. I designed the tiny 25 pound Yakette HV for quick trips to the lake and to get to those "hard to get to" fishing spots. The Stealth is a Yakoo hybrid that turned out to be exceptionally fast and is great as a light touring and day boat or could be used for an overnight trip. Shown below is my first attempt at a skin and frame boat built from M-Plans. She tracks well like the others and is very stable. A joy to paddle! This boat was easy to build and the cost is very low. The red, white and blue sailboat is our family daysailer and a winner all the way. She's an excellent performer and easily sails 4 adults. The modified OSS is a fun boat and can also be used in sheltered waters for sailing or fishing. |
